In the last few years, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is being increasingly talked about. Since its beginnings, the term CSR has been accompanied by debate about its meaning and scope. This is hardly surprising, since the concept is closely linked to the question of the company’s purpose and its contribution to society, a question where values, perspectives and the interests of different social agents converge.
From the MANGO Chair in Corporate Social Responsibility, we wish to adopt a standpoint in the face of existing debates. In this respect, we propose a conceptual framework for the questions considered most relevant in the general CSR debate: the definition of CSR, the field of CSR, the voluntary nature of CSR, and CSR in the context of globalization. With this conceptual framework, we hope to contribute to a better understanding of CSR and, above all, establish a reference base for research activities carried out by the Chair itself.
